Luna wins first place in photo competition

Uvalde Leader-News Managing Director Pete Luna won first place in the reporting category of the National Newspaper Association Publishers’ Auxiliary Fourth Quarter Photo Contest.

The award was announced in the October 2021 edition of PubAux on Tuesday.

The winning photo was taken during the Sabinal Lions Club Wild Hog Fest, which took place in late March. It shows the young visitor Elliot Morris, who prefers the name Tex Weaver, shaking hands with Ray Przybylski, reserve officer of the Sabinal Police Department.

Luna, who has worked for Leader-News since June 4, 2006, is a three-time winner of the South Texas Press Association’s Photographer of the Year award, in addition to receiving numerous other photography awards from STPA and Texas. Press Association.

This is his third PubAux award. He won first place in sports photography for the third and fourth quarters of 2020.

The contest included photos taken between September 11, 2020 and September 11, 2021.
