This beginning of the year ushered in a promising year for The eye of photography! In January in particular, the newspaper broke its audience record by quintupling the number of its total visits on certain days. The magazine has an average of 1.2 million visitors! With this excellent result, we are ahead of the best sites dedicated to photography.
Our readership is changing. In December 2021, it was 60% French-speaking and 40% English-speaking. English speakers now represent more than 70% of the readership! Our newspaper has considerably developed its audience in the United States on the East Coast, in particular in California, Texas and Florida. L’Œil de la Photographie has become the world’s first online daily specialized in photography.
If this January audience record can be explained by several successive “exceptional peaks” at the beginning of the month (several hundred thousand connections), we can indeed see an average increase in readership of 30% (!) since the beginning of the year thanks to:
- the very good indexing of our site by search engines like Google,
- substantive work on optimizing the loading of our site internationally,
- the revitalization of our Instagram account with daily stories around our daily editions and three publications per day.
These new readers, this sustained attraction for photography and this never-ending information impose more and more demands on us in our choices, in our openness, in our editorial rigor. For a year, the newspaper has increased its audience without changing its editorial line: to show photography in all its forms, in all its messages, everywhere in the world.
Motivated by these good results, we will therefore intensify the development of the magazine and our subscribers will see in the coming months a set of improvements and features on the site such as the possibility of saving your favorite articles in your subscriber area, the improvement of content research or even new partnerships…
