The Eagle The newsroom won 22 awards, including seven top prizes, from the editors of the Texas Associated Press this week.
The annual awards were announced via Facebook on Tuesday.
Eagle Editor Crystal Dupré said she is proud of the journalism produced daily by the newsroom staff.
“I am delighted and beyond the pride of The Eagle press team, âshe said. âThis group works hard every day to bring interesting, influential and real stories that make a difference in our community and in the lives of our readers. It takes a lot of talent to incorporate pictures, videos and words to tell a full story and that’s what this team brings daily.
The contest brings together articles of similar draw. The Eagle competes in class 2A with The Brownsville Herald, the San Angelo Normal Hours, Facts, the Daily Telegram from the Temple, the Killeen Daily Herald and others. The winners are chosen by media professionals from across the country.
Eagle Editor-in-chief Darren Benson, who sits on the APME Texas board of directors, said the recognition was well deserved.
âI continue to be impressed with the talent of the team in The Eaglefrom the newsroom, âhe said. “The awards recognize the hard work of the entire newsroom during a difficult year to continue to provide compelling content to our readers.”
