Court Documents: Former Linn-Mar Coach Charged With Sexually Abusing Student | Cedars Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – Court documents show a former Linn-Mar High School track coach allegedly sexually assaulted a student-athlete on school grounds in September.

Kameron Beets, 29, was stopped on Monday, October 25 for allegedly soliciting inappropriate images from minors. He was charged with third degree kidnapping, third degree sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual exploitation by a school employee and invasion of privacy.

According to a criminal complaint, a 17-year-old boy told the Marion Police Department that Beets asked him to send nude photos and videos. In September this year, Beets reportedly met the teenager at an office in Linn Mar to perform a “physical analysis”. At that time, the criminal complaint states that Beets confined the boy to a bathroom for more than 45 minutes; asking the victim to undress while Beets touched him.

It is also alleged that Beets used his position as owner and operator of BEAST Academy, a high school sports photography business, to reach victims. Police executed several search warrants. As a result, thousands of images showing high school athletes have been collected.

Investigators will continue to examine the photos to determine if there are other victims.

Beets is expected to return to court on Friday, November 5.
